The Silent Patient

Hello Readers,
This is most probably my last blog post of 2022 and I realise how inactive I have been in my writings. Even though I have a lot to speak sometimes, yet I do not think I am comfortable enough for all that to come to public light. May be most of our thoughts are meant to remain hidden until someone comes into our lives and rescues us from it. On the other hand, I have found it increasingly disappointing in people’s conduct in today’s world. It pains me when I find that the good ones have been on the receiving end of the worst behaviour, often starting a circle of distrust and loss of belief. Well we can explore this another day since I am unable to gather my thoughts clearly here even though they have a good hold in my mind. May be I am too reluctant to speak the truth because it is too realistic and hurtful and if one has a choice of lingering a little bit more in the land of hopes to keep their sanity, then I guess it is fair trade.

Readers, I wanted to tell you that I recently read a psychological thriller that has put my mind into the thoughts I have mentioned above. The book goes by the name “The Silent Patient” and is written by Alex Michaelides. Even though I was hopeful of reading more books this year, it has sadly not been the case. So in order to minimise my guilty conscience, I decided to pick up one good read before this year ends and I was glad about the choice I made. The one thing that stuck with me and also which kind of rekindled a lost fear is picturing the extent to which a person can go. Even though it was just a story, the circumstances mentioned are very much prevalent in the real world and the consequences imagined in the story is the breaking points a lot of people face today.

If you are looking for a book that you cannot put down, this should be on the top of your list of books to read. You will not be disappointed, either with the storyline or with the simple vocabulary that gives a realistic appeal. I get hooked to such pieces that describe things appropriately and as simplistic as they can because that is the entire point of writing in the first place. Before I end this, I just want to leave a few thoughts for whoever reads this. Readers, if you have a chance to be the bigger person in life then gladly choose it. We all have been bad to someone and maybe not even intentionally, but that is beyond the point because the person who is on the receiving end of our misfortunes is the one who suffers the most. And the one thing that I have learnt well in life is that Karma bites back more painfully to those who inflict harm of any kind - physical or psychological. So in short I am asking you Readers, if you have the ability to be the bigger person in life, then do not betray someone’s trust or hurt them in a way they cannot recover. It ruins individual lives, their confidence and inflicts a lot of pain on their family. You may not realise it yet but in hindsight, He will always find a way to make you pay for your actions. I hope you end the year with enthusiasm and hopes in your hearts because even if things have been bitter or have not gone your way, there is always space for better things to fill our brief yet marvellous lives. Just never let go of that hope because hope is all we can truly have.

Until next time, Readers❤️
