The opportunity cost

Everything has a value,

Even the ones that cannot be bought,

It does not uncover its true meaning,

Until we realize its worth and there’s nothing left to be taught.

I will not sideline the cause,

To silence the distress with a pause,

It’s not about the things you and I feel,

Because we can pursue to understand but never weigh someone’s zeal.

The opportunity cost is very high,

When we decide to do this instead of that,

To follow our mind or to follow our heart,

The knowledge of the entire world too fails to give us a head start.

Many times or almost always, we tend to know our decisions,

Deep down our subconscious knows what is right,

We only wait for a sign or an assurance,

To separate the wheat from the chaff, the black from the white.

The choices we make shape us,

Repercussions occur that cannot be taken back,

The strength it takes to deal with an unfavourable aftermath,

If only we knew how to trick our sorrows into happiness with a simple hack.

There are no rights or wrongs,

Nature is both soft and brutal,

With perspectives we discover new meanings,

Some things you and I both share in mutual.

If given another chance, maybe we will tread on the same path or take a different one,

We may choose to look at a different colour in the sky at dawn instead of pink,

Dwelling on the past makes us circle the same path repeatedly,

While the Gods above are plotting a convincing story with a sign of wink.

What good does holding on brings to us,

Many would argue against it with reason,

But rationality cannot explain why we act on our emotions and beliefs rather than what experience teaches us,

No matter what the textbook says, we will always long and hope for the spring season.

Until next time, Readers ❤
